Heart Break in Happy Valley

What kind of a mother would drag her children all the way to Salt Lake City just to have their sweet little hearts ripped out? This kind of mother, I guess (finger pointing at me). Blondie (left) and her friends are HUGE David Archuleta fans. Let face it...so are all the other teenage girls in Utah. Apparently, those other girls don't know that David A. is my future son-in-law. Blondie may need to inform her future husband about the plans, but first she actually needs to meet him! LOL!!!

When they announced that they would be broadcasting American Idol (and shooting crowd pictures) live at the Energy Solutions Arena the girls were all over that! I sent Blondie a text yesterday during school (yes, I know that's against the rules) telling her that I would take her and her friends to SLC. That immediately caused Blondie to have bladder issues, which meant she "needed to take a trip to the bathroom". (That's code for: she had to go to her friend's class and tell her that I had already gotten her mother's permission to take her to the live broadcast.) Her other friend was in gym class, so she didn't find out until after school. I sure hope her principal doesn't read my blog!
I brought the Ballerina along with me for company. I'm comfortable enough with myself to admit that I probably don't fit in with a trio of screaming teenage girls. But I can drive and they can't!
Obviously, this picture was taken before the announcement that David Cook is the new American Idol. Let's just say that it was a long, sad drive home.

  1. I love the title of you post... sounds like a movie title.

How COOL that you took the girls to the big event. Total cool points for you mom, and double cool points since you texted your daughter during school (you rebel you)!

We were rooting for your future son-in-law too. I even voted like a couple dozen times for him. I thought FOR SURE he was going to win. I still don't get it.

  2. What a good mom you are to take those girl's for such a fun evening (outcome excepted *s*) It's easy to see that everyone had a good time. I must admit that I was pulling for the other David. Your future SIL has plenty of talent and lots of time to make it big *s*

  4. What a good mom! Trust me you created a memory that they will never forget. We waited in line for HOURS to get an autograph from Mario Lopez when Saved by the Bell was a big hit. The girls still talk about it! As HZ told you, MAJOR cool mom points!

  8. Its kind of sad. In a way maybe it would have been better for him to wait a few years to do the show but he did his best and people just went for the older bar tender type rather than the squeeky clean kid with oozing talent. Sad. But he will have a future ahead of him. And maybe even one related to you!!! haaha

  9. What a great mom to take the girls to an arena with a bunch of screaming teens. LOL Both Davids had awesome talent and I did vote David Cook. David A still has an awesome career ahead and at his young age! I must admit...the father back stage was not fair to others and I'm glad they gave him the boot. Yes, granted David A age....but hey....everybody on the show needs to be treated equally right? Your daughter is such a cutie pie.....hope she gets the David of her dreams!

  10. What a fantastic mom you are! DD turned 13 yesterday and her grandpa got her a cell phone so I guess I can get ahold of her now. LOL (I will tell them you said it was okay when we get busted)

  11. Good job, Mom! Looks like everyone had such a wonderful time, looking at your pictures. I was disappointed in the outcome, but I like both the Davids. I think David A. is pretty young to be thrust out there...but I bet he already has a recording contract!

  12. You're a fun mom!

I don't get it why David A. didn't win, either, but I'm sure he'll do great.

David A. and David C. are doing a concert on the Today show tomorrow (Thursday) I think.

  13. I don't keep up much on AI, but I assure you we are still related!

I am also assured by reliable sources that the 2nd place spot is the Sweet Spot and gets the better record deals.

Your Blondie and David will be sitting pretty will all their moolah!!

  14. You are the BEST mom in the world in my book! Even though it had a sad ending, those girls will remember that night for a long, long time. You rock, Kairle!

  15. You know I even thought of you and your blonde girls when they showed the Utah crowd and so many blondes. Had to laugh! I really couldn't choose between the 2 Davids. Both so different in talent. David A. will be headed for greatness with his amazing talent. He still has plenty of time! And we will be watching!
