I'm feeling sad today. I got a call at 7:15 this morning to inform me that my friend and neighbor of 17 years passed away at 5:20 a.m. Lynette and her husband found out just 10 weeks ago today that she had colon cancer. As is typically the case, she didn't have any symptoms and only found out when she went to see the doctor about something else.
Please, my dear friends, if you are over 50 years old and you haven't yet had a colonoscopy, make an appointment to have it done now. Those who love you will thank you! Colon cancer is very treatable if caught in the early stages. In Lynette's case the cancer had already spread to her liver and lungs. She was only in her mid 50s and leaves behind her husband, five children and a bunch of grandchildren.
I'll always remember (and will miss) Lynette's gentle smile and shy giggle.
Oh Kairle I am so sorry. Sending comforting thoughts for all.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and my thoughts going out to her family.

Sending hugs your way, too. So sad to have cancer claim another young life.
ReplyDeleteKairle, My heart goes out to you. It's never easy losing a friend. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending HUGS to you. It's been a sad few months in your neighborhood, hasn't it? So many cancers are that way--few symptoms and often not caught early enough. Take care of yourself and spend time in the comfort of your family and friends, Kairle!
ReplyDeleteSending warm hugs and thoughts your way! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteKairle, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Her family and you will be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your friend! That is way way too young!! Sending warm quilty hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteOh Kairle, my heart goes out to you! That is very sad - she was much too young.
ReplyDeleteI had a colonoscopy this year, due to a weird test result, and the doctor found a benign polyp and got rid of it. Polyps can evidently become cancerous if left untreated, so I'm glad I had the procedure. It is definitely a very good thing for people over 50 to have a colonoscopy. I am sorry that you all had to find that out the hard way. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her family. Take care!
Kairle, I'm so sorry about your friend/neighbor. That is just the sadddest thing. I FINALLY talked my hubby into his first colonoscopy this year and he's 62!!! Thanks God all was ok with him.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Prayers for you. Much Love, Jodi
