Hotter Than Hades

Sunday evening I took our oldest daughter to her college orientation. We attended orientation all day yesterday (okay, I confess...I actually cut class most of the day) and then made the three hour drive home last evening. We were only gone for a total of 28 hours, but while we were away the rest of the family managed to break the air conditioning unit.

Alright (another confession), they didn't really break it, but I feel like I need to blame someone. I want to point a finger at whoever it is that's responsible for the 84 degree temperature in my home. To my husband's credit, he had made arrangements for a repairman to arrive this afternoon, sometime between 1:00 and 5:00. You know, during the hottest time of the day. Well you can believe that I was overjoyed when the office manager of the a/c repair company called at 10:00 a.m. and asked if it was okay if someone came early to repair the unit! Yes, yes, YES!!! It's taken all afternoon, but the house is finally starting to feel cool again.

Wanna see what I was working on while the repairman was downstairs working away?Kim and I have been collecting this Bonnie Sullivan fabric by Maywood Studios since it came out last year. Kim actually completed one quilt with last year's fabric and made two more quilt tops this past week. It took me a full year to get one designed and stitched together. I still have enough fabric to make a little table runner or some other project. Do ya think it'll take me another full year? Probably. lol!

  1. What a cute quilt! I so love that fabric line - I really have to break down and buy some. If you girls would quit making such adorable quilts with this fabric, I wouldn't want it - LOL!!
Glad your A/C is working again - I melt in the heat, so I can't imagine it being 84 degrees in the house - yikes!

  2. I can sympathize with you about the hot and the broken a/c. Last summer ours went out during the hottest part of the summer, as is most often the case. We bought a new unit, and for the life of me I can't remember how we managed while it was down but we did. I don't think it got as hot last summer as it did this year though.

  3. No A/C? Yuck! I would have gotten back in the car and drove to the mall or a movie theater! LOL! I'm glad to hear it's fixed. I love your quilt, Kairle! That green and purple with the black really looks great! Hummmm. Maybe I need to buy more and copy you?! LOL!

  4. What a fun quilt! As for the no a/c -- I'd have been at the mall or headed straight to the nearest quilt shop. Glad you're cooling down quickly!

  5. Love the piecework - When it's cold, at least you can put on a jacket. WHen it's hot, you can sit stark naked and it's still hot...Glad the a/c is repaired.

  6. I'm glad your A/C got fixed. I don't know what I would do with no A/C! We had central air in WA and people thought we were crazy, but on those few 100 degree days, we were sitting happily in coolness! Very cute quilt! :)

  7. I, too, can sympathize with you about the broken a/c. We had ours break in August one year and it was on the week end so we had to go a local motel for the night. I'm glad you're cool again!

I love the Halloween fabric but I'm trying hard to avoid it. It's too darn cute, though.

  8. Oh, Kairle, your quilt shows up better here. So cute. Is that the candy corn in the black border?
So glad you A/C is back working. I have certainly enjoyed ours this year.
